Since its opening in 2011, 3812 Gallery sees itself as a catalyst for the contemporary expression of the uniqueness of Eastern culture. In the last nine years, the gallery has evolved into an art enterprise owing to its diverse approach to the promotion of Chinese contemporary art, its close relationship with artists, scholars and collectors, and most importantly, the understanding that art development and heritage preservation take more than a few white walls in the age of globalisation.
3812 Gallery has published three issues of Collect since 2017, an art journal aiming to provide a captivating and informative channel to art appreciation, a continuation of profound discussions that often take place within gallery walls and less often outside of them.

Chloe Ho painting in Wei Ligang's studio
We are delighted to present the renowned contemporary Chinese ink painter Wei Ligang's musings on Chloe Ho's contemporary ink works. Extracted from two essays, the first written in 2014 following Chloe's apprenticeship at Wei's studio in Beijing during the winter of 2013, and the second published in the 2017 exhibition catalogue Ascendence, Wei Ligang reflects on particular paintings by Chloe as well as on her painting style and presence.

ARTicle 11: We are delighted to present the essay Hsiao Chin: A Fundamental Sense of Hope written by British award-winning art critic Richard Cork for the exhibition catalogue of Hsiao Chin's retrospective In my beginning is my end: the art of Hsiao Chin, which takes place at the Mark Rothko Art Centre in Latvia from 31st July to 25th October 2020, as part of the celebratory programme for the artist's 85th year. In the essay, Richard Cork develops from Hsiao's early works from the 50s and walks you through the extraordinary sixty-year oeuvre of the post-war abstract master of the East.
