Xinran Liu 劉欣然

Overview

Xinran Liu (born in 1998, China) is an artist based in London. She holds a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and earned her MA at the Royal College of Art.

Xinran's work captures the moments of her memory and the time and space that her body has gone through. These perishable moments dissolve, but then, merge into a temporary space, creating a temporary connection of thoughts that whisper and fade away.

In Xinran's works, anything can be taken as the subject to portray. It can be ordinary objects such as cups and souvenirs. It can also be scribbled characters taken out from a piece of note. The objects are the projection of her connection with her family culture and identity. Through the lines and brushstrokes, Xinran is able to recreate her memory and cultural experience on the canvas.
