Ann Carrington 安 · 卡寧頓

Overview

Having graduated from the Sculpture Department of the Royal College of Art in 1987, Ann Carrington has since been pushing the definition of sculpture. Carrington uses discarded, found, and multiples of objects as a fundamental element of her practice. Mundane objects such as knives and forks, barbed wire, pins and paintbrushes come with their own readymade histories and associations which are unravelled and analysed when rearranged, distorted, or realigned giving them new meaning as sculpture.

In 2010 Ann was invited by the United Nations to help raise awareness of current issues through her artwork – her first artwork for the UN was presented at the UN Human Trafficking Conference in Luxor Egypt, in December 2010.

Carrington has exhibited worldwide and received significant commissions from esteemed private collectors and public institutions, including His Majesty King Charles III, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Victoria and Albert Museum, the United Nations, Royal College of Art, the Design Museum, London, Sir Paul Smith, Sir Harrison Ford and Sir Elton John.
