'Most of us live on the bottom of a cube. If we put the walls even with the floor, we get a lot of space to live on.' - Poul Cadovius

    Poul Cadovius (1911 - 2011)

    Danish furniture designer and architect

Poul Cadovious single handedly revolutionised the traditional shelving system by designing shelving units that are attached to the wall as if they are floating in the air, maximising both storage and floor space. The innovative modular approach allows for a number of combinations to fit in different interiors and purposes, fulfilling the needs of the modern society. His multi-award winning Royal System (1948) and the subsequent System Ultra (1957) and System Cado (1960) are the icons of Danish modernism and have inspired generations of designers. Cadovius was also one of the first Danish designers to use plastic, then new material, in producing furniture. He also held over 400 patents over the span of his long career.
