Westbund Art & Design 2026: Booth 1A08 | Raymond Fung & Ren Tianjin Duo Exhibition

10 - 15 November 2026 Art Fairs
Overview

3812 Gallery is delighted to return to Westbund Art & Design this year with a dual solo presentation featuring Raymond Fung and Ren Tianjin, on view at Westbund International Convention and Exhibition Center (Booth 1A08) from November 10 to 15, 2026.

Following his solo exhibition at SOAS Gallery, University of London, and 3812 Gallery London earlier this year, Hong Kong artist Raymond Fung (b. 1952) presents a new selection of works at the fair, reinterpreting traditional ink art through an ecological lens. Echoing the rich palette of the Lingnan School and the brushwork of Lui Shou-kwan, his “Breathing” series employs rich texture and organic imagery, demonstrating Raymond Fung’s invocation of ink as a medium while reflecting his profound contemplation on nature and ecology as an architect.

Shanghai-born artist Ren Tianjin (b. 1962) spans his artistic practices across calligraphy, painting, and sculpture. Steeped in traditional Chinese calligraphy from an early age, Ren Tianjin recognised the divergence between Eastern and Western artistic concepts after immersing himself in Western contemporary art, drawing inspiration and insights that led him to explore qualities beyond calligraphy’s “linguistic nature” – such as “layout,” “dynamic state,” and “stroke momentum”, etc. Ren Tianjin’s sculpture work represents the most groundbreaking aspect of his practice, deconstructing and resembling traditional calligraphy to grant it a fresh vitality within contemporary language.

Both Raymond Fung and Ren Tianjin are deeply rooted in tradition yet unconstrained by it, actively exploring contemporary interpretations of traditional media in their artistic practices. By juxtaposing their ink paintings and sculptures, we present a fresh dimension to the enduring heritage of traditional art.

The fair will be open to the public from November 12 to 15, from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the West Bund International Convention and Exhibition Center, 7, Longyao Rd., Shanghai. VIP previews will take place from November 10 to 11.
